Tohatsu Corporation has announced that Power Equipment Pty Ltd will become its exclusive distributor for Australia, New Zealand and Oceania from 1 July 2026.
The transition aligns with Power Equipment’s established regional footprint and dealer network, strengthening Tohatsu’s presence across the Australasian marine market.
Tohatsu General Manager of Overseas Operations, Genki Tamura, said the partnership would support the brand’s planned growth by leveraging Power Equipment’s industry relationships, technical expertise, parts infrastructure and strong reputation in the region.
For Power Equipment, one of Australia’s leading marine engine suppliers, the appointment marks a major milestone and broadens its product offering into petrol outboards for the first time.
Power Equipment CEO Luke Foster said adding Tohatsu to its portfolio would enable the company to offer a full spectrum of propulsion, on-water power, propellers and stabilisation solutions. “With more than 100 years of Japanese engineering and a world-class R&D programme, Tohatsu products speak for themselves,” Foster said.
Tohatsu currently has more than 80 dealers across the region, with an outboard range spanning from 2.5hp to 250hp, covering a broad variety of vessels and applications.
The collaboration is expected to boost Tohatsu’s market exposure and sales while further strengthening Power Equipment’s position across the marine sector, supported by its extensive warehousing, parts network and experienced marine team.
