Aquila 45 Sport Power Catamaran – Fast, Functional, And Built To Entertain

The Aquila 45 Sport is a high-performance power catamaran that combines speed, comfort, and exceptional entertaining space. Designed by a builder with extensive expertise in power cats, it delivers more than 50 mph while accommodating up to 16 guests. Below deck, owners will find a king-size berth, a full stand-up wet head with an electric toilet, generous storage, and overnight capability that extends its appeal well beyond day boating.

Powered by twin Mercury Verado 600 V12 outboards on a double-stepped, full-planing hull, the 45 Sport is engineered specifically around these engines. Their rotating lower units maximise cockpit space while delivering strong acceleration, precise handling, and impressive efficiency. During testing in Jupiter, the boat reached 54 mph, planed quickly, and maintained strong midrange performance with a quiet, composed ride.

Handling is a standout feature. The catamaran hull remains remarkably level through aggressive turns, providing excellent visibility that monohulls often lose when heeled over. The twin Mercury V12s deliver confident grip and power throughout hard cornering, creating a sporty yet controlled driving experience.

The helm reflects modern expectations, featuring three 16-inch Raymarine multifunction displays with touchscreens integrated with CZone digital switching for centralised control of onboard systems. Physical controls back up essential functions, while wireless phone charging, air-conditioning vents, USB and 12-volt outlets, and excellent sightlines enhance comfort underway.

Aquila’s engineering is equally impressive below deck. Spacious machinery compartments provide easy service access, with neatly organised wiring, double-clamped hoses, labelled systems, and electrical equipment mounted above a finished false floor. Raw-water systems utilize a sea chest for reliable cooling, and bilge pumps, strainers, and seacocks are all readily accessible.

The optional Mastervolt lithium battery system allows extended air-conditioning use without a generator, while the Mercury engines can rapidly recharge the batteries underway. Dual in-house-built aluminium fuel tanks, corrosion-resistant coatings, and thoughtful details—including a splash-well hatch with a trim-up warning alarm—highlight the boat’s attention to practical design.

The Aquila 45 Sport successfully blends exhilarating performance with cruising comfort, offering spacious entertaining areas, refined accommodations, and meticulous construction. Whether used for watersports, sandbar gatherings, weekend escapes, or extended cruising, it delivers the speed, stability, and quality expected from a purpose-built flagship power catamaran.
