One of New Zealand’s leading marine dealerships, Farnley’s, is entering a new chapter, with Jack Ewen and Mason Orchard taking ownership of the business from longtime partners James and Chris.
The change marks the end of a successful 16-year partnership that began when James, then just 19 years old, joined forces with Chris. Together, they have built Farnley’s into a well-established and respected marine dealership, supported by a dedicated team, loyal customers and strong relationships with Yamaha and other key marine industry suppliers.
While the decision to sell was not made lightly, both James and Chris believe the timing is right to pursue their respective business interests and new opportunities.
Chris will continue his involvement in the marine industry through Farnley’s Watercraft in Christchurch, along with his growing mini jet boat business. Meanwhile, James will concentrate his efforts on Extreme Boats, one of New Zealand’s largest and most established boat manufacturers.
Extreme Boats has produced thousands of boats for customers worldwide and continues to expand its international dealer network, with hull number 4000 now on the production line. With significant new model development underway and further opportunities in global markets, James will now devote his full attention to the company’s next stage of growth.
For incoming owners Jack Ewen and Mason Orchard, the acquisition represents an opportunity to build on Farnley’s strong reputation and established customer base.
The pair inherit a successful dealership with an experienced team and a solid foundation for future growth.
James and Chris have expressed their appreciation to Farnley’s staff, customers, Yamaha, suppliers and the wider marine community for their support over the past 16 years.
While their chapter at Farnley’s comes to an end, both are looking forward to seeing Jack and Mason bring fresh ideas and enthusiasm to the business as they guide it into the future.
