Nimbus has revealed the first images of its new Sport Coupé 35 ahead of its world premiere at boot Düsseldorf in January 2027. Combining the performance and handling of a Sport Cruiser with the comfort and craftsmanship of a traditional Nimbus Coupé, the new model is designed for year-round boating.
Built on the same hull as the Sport Tender 35, the Sport Coupé is the latest addition to the Sport Cruiser 35 series, which also includes the Sport Weekender. The Sport Tender made its debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September and has since been nominated for European Powerboat of the Year 2027. According to Nimbus Chief Designer Joacim Gustavsson, the concept brings together two interpretations of a coupé – a sporty, sleek design and a boat intended for comfortable living aboard.
Proven Hull Performance
The Sport Coupé 35 shares the air-lubricated, twin-stepped hull of the Sport Tender 35, featuring a sharp bow section and deeper V aft. Vacuum-infused in one piece around a Divinycell core, the construction provides strength, rigidity and insulation while keeping weight down.
Nimbus says the result is a solid, quiet ride, with a low planing threshold, reduced spray and excellent handling in challenging conditions. During Mercury Marine sea trials in August, the Sport Tender 35 achieved 48.5 knots with twin Mercury Verado V8 300 outboards.
The Sport Coupé extends the same construction philosophy into its superstructure, with the saloon, cabin sides and galley incorporating as few separate components as possible to improve rigidity and reduce unwanted noise.
Signature Sidewalk Design
A defining feature is Nimbus’s asymmetrical Sidewalk deck arrangement. The extra-wide starboard walkway provides safe access between the cockpit and foredeck, while the raised port deck creates additional saloon space and headroom below. At the starboard helm, a sliding side door allows the skipper to step directly onto the walkway when docking. A flush-fitting hull-side gate provides convenient access to the quay, while Mercury Joystick Piloting and an integrated bow thruster simplify close-quarters manoeuvring. The helm features an uncluttered layout, with essential controls close at hand, including throttle, steering and windscreen wipers operated by paddles on the wheel. A single 16-inch or twin 12-inch displays run Nimbus’s interface, while the matte anthracite dashboard reduces reflections. A solid roof replaces the canvas arrangement found on the Tender, incorporating sliding glass hatches above the saloon and fixed glazing extending over the aft cockpit.
Comfortable Living Spaces
The saloon is designed for entertaining, relaxing and extended cruising. A versatile dinette replaces the traditional U-shaped lounge, providing generous dining space and adaptable seating. Underway, the forward sofa converts to forward-facing passenger seating. At anchor, the table lowers to create a lounge, while the area can also convert into an additional berth. An optional fold-down television screen of up to 40 inches adds entertainment flexibility. The integrated galley includes a gas or electric hob, double sink, concealed drawers and overhead storage, with clean, handle-free cabinetry.
Below decks, accommodation includes a forward cabin with a generous double berth and standard wardrobes, a mid-cabin with increased headroom, and a separate head with shower. Opening ports provide ventilation, while the large foredeck hatch lets luggage pass directly into the forward cabin. Nimbus Commercial Director Jonas Göthberg says the Sport Coupé builds on the company’s reputation for practical, comfortable cruising, incorporating the features owners value when spending extended periods aboard.
Versatile Outdoor Spaces
The foredeck offers considerably more than conventional sunbathing space. Without cushions, it provides a practical working area with non-slip surfaces for boarding and handling lines. Add cushions and sunbeds, and it becomes a spacious relaxation area. A removable table creates seating for up to eight people, making the foredeck another entertaining zone. Aft, an L-shaped lounge accommodates five or six around the table. Its adjustable backrest allows passengers to face aft towards the bathing platform, while the seating can also convert into a sunbed.
A fold-down side balcony extends the usable cockpit space and provides access closer to the water. Fishing has not been overlooked. The aft seating folds away to create standing space, with integrated fish-filleting surfaces and an optional fishing rack offering additional support. An integrated canopy system allows the cockpit to be enclosed quickly when conditions deteriorate. Side panels stow beside the saloon doors, while the aft section disappears into the roof. A sliding glass door between the saloon and cockpit is standard. An optional electrically lowered window and folding glass door create a more open indoor-outdoor entertaining space, similar to the arrangement aboard the Nimbus 495 Coupé.
Sportier Styling and Engine Options
Visually, the Sport Coupé 35 adopts a forward-raked windscreen inspired by the larger 495 Coupé, creating a sportier profile complemented by the hull’s long sheer line. Power options include Mercury outboards, with either a single V10 or twin V8 300 engines. A Volvo Penta D6 inboard is also available, providing a larger bathing platform, additional storage and a substantial locker beneath the extended sunbed.
World Premiere
Nimbus positions the Sport Coupé 35 as an all-season cruiser suited to couples, families and owners who want the performance of a Sport Cruiser without sacrificing overnight accommodation or entertaining space. The new model will make its world premiere at boot Düsseldorf, Germany, from 23–31 January 2027, when full specifications will be released.
The Sport Coupé 35 represents another evolution of the Swedish builder’s philosophy of combining capable seakeeping with practical Scandinavian design, delivering a versatile package for everything from day trips to extended cruising.
