The trailerable liveaboard that offers Kiwi adventurers a new way to explore.
It isn’t often that a new product changes how people approach their travel, but CaraBoat is definitely one of them. The Australian-designed trailerable boat that doubles as a self-contained caravan, is now available in New Zealand.
The idea is simple. Travellers have always had to choose between land and water. Caravanners can reach some of New Zealand’s most beautiful coastlines and lakesides, but only as far as the road goes. Boaties can head for secluded bays far from the crowds, and liveaboards can spend days out there, but a vessel that size rarely moves easily between waterways. CaraBoat removes both limits, offering adventure that doesn’t stop at the water’s edge for caravanners and boaties alike.
The range has three models. The 6.5-metre 650 has a hull designed with more open-water capability in mind. The 7.5-metre 750 and 8.7-metre 870 put more emphasis on living space and are the more versatile choice for travellers who want to make full use of CaraBoat as a caravan. All three models are built to order.
For boat owners, the practical side is incredibly appealing. Because CaraBoat is fully trailerable, it goes home after each trip instead of staying on a mooring or in a marina berth. That removes ongoing berth fees and reduces the maintenance that comes with a hull kept in the water year-round. It also means The Hauraki Gulf one weekend and Lake Taupō the next becomes a realistic plan. The possibilities in New Zealand are endless.
The concept was developed by a small team of boatbuilders in New South Wales who describe themselves as travellers designing for travellers. Their aim was to let people escape the crowds, avoid campground fees and reach places that are hard to get to by road or by water alone.
The team at CaraBoat New Zealand are proud to bring this concept to our shores and provide Kiwi travellers with a truly unique way to explore our beautiful country.
