Construction on the first De Mey ’60s is progressing well, with both hulls now fabricated, joined, and set up in their respective build positions.
The next process is installing all the carbon fibre internal structure that has been premade for both hulls. Nic de Mey Yachts spend a lot of time designing the systems that will be in the boat prior to construction that way they can fabricate the individual parts that make up the internal structure with all the penetrations and reinforcements already done, this reduces the amount of work needed once the parts are fitted into the hulls and reduce structural rework which is common in semi-custom boats.
Whilst main build production is moving forward, interior design and cabinetwork are also underway, the styling brief for the first 2 hulls is for a high-end luxury feel using a combination of modern and traditional surfaces and finishes reflecting a timeless style and feel.
