Hosted by some of the country’s most experienced and successful fishing experts, the free fishing Master Classes are always one of the most popular features of the Hutchwilco New Zealand Boat Show.

The Master Classes, held in The Rock Fishing Hall and surrounded by some of New Zealand’s very best fishing retailers, offer fishers the chance to catch up on the latest techniques, learn clever new tips and get some great practical advice, all for free!
This year’s speakers include:
- Hauraki Gulf Fishing Hot Spots author and straylining expert Bruce Duncan showing how to catch fish year-round in the Hauraki Gulf.
- Multiple world record holder and New Zealand IGFA representative Scott Tindale, demonstrating the latest gamefishing techniques.
- Top fishing author Mark Kitteridge on catching snapper on lures.
- Experienced charter skipper Carl Muir on how to get the most from your sounder.
- Kayak fishing expert Paul Rountree on how to catch big snapper in shallow water.
- Popular fishing personality Daniel Tiria on the highly effective art of slow pitch jigging.
- Expert squid fisherman, Jeremy Troup, showing how to target and catch squid in and around New Zealand’s largest city.
- Drone expert Sagar Thaker on the latest advances in drone fishing.
- The team from popular TV show South Seas Spearo on how to get into and be successful at spearfishing.
- Kai Ika and Legasea master filleter Dave Ahoia demonstrating how to fillet your catch like a pro.

There is plenty of seating and each presentation includes an audio-visual display and a helpful question and answer session. Although the free Fishing Master Classes run throughout the show, not all speakers are able to present every day so it pays to check out the Master Class timetable on the show’s website.
