by admin

Honda Marine has entered the electric outboard market with the soft release of a transom-mount electric.

Not a lot of specs have been revealed, but what is known is the outboard will be powered by the company’s Mobile Power Pack e, introduced in October of 2021 to create a battery standard for swappable power supplies. The batteries are already available on Honda’s electric scooters and could be used in other electric vehicles. The Honda Mobile Power Pack is a detachable portable battery that supplies power to various electric products, such as electric motorcycles and small mobility vehicles. It can provide continuous operation without waiting for charging time by replacing the empty battery to a fully charged one.”

The lithium-ion battery has a capacity of 1.3KWh and has been tested for “reliability in environments with severe specifications such as vibration shock, temperature and humidity. A long life is achieved by using highly durable cells and actively dissipating the heat generated during discharge. Honda is tight-lipped about specifications and offered no timeline for introduction.
