Sharrow Marine has just announced the launch of its new propeller series, the Sharrow MX-A™, designed specifically for boats with outboards in the 40-200 HP range. The new Sharrow props will be made of red anodised aluminium, with starting prices at $1,995 and up. The revolutionary Sharrow props have only been available in stainless steel for outboard engines from 150 hp and up, with retail prices starting at $5,000. By using aluminium alloy instead of stainless steel, as it does for its larger horsepower props, and by eliminating the costly investment casting required for stainless steel props, Sharrow Marine can substantially lower the price to the consumer for its patented propellers. This latest release brings Sharrow’s award-winning technology to a far wider range of boaters, including pontoon boat owners and smaller fishing and pleasure boat owners.

“For small aluminium fishing boats and Jon boats, our new MX-A series, in effect, makes the fuel tank larger by giving the boat up to 30% greater range at cruising speeds,” said Greg Sharrow, founder and CEO of Sharrow Marine. Perhaps most importantly, the new props will allow fully-loaded small aluminium, fibreglass and RIB boats to get on the plane faster without having to shift weight forward as is often necessary with conventional props,” he said. “In effect, the MX-A props give 4-stroke engines the low-end thrust that only 2-stroke engines can provide. The Sharrow MX-A is Sharrow Marine’s first-ever aluminium propeller that is CNC-machined from aircraft-grade aluminium at Sharrow’s Detroit-based facilities. The CNC process mills each prop to unparalleled precision specifications impossible to attain with investment moulded casting used by makers of conventional props. The Sharrow MX-A is designed to fit major outboard brands, including Mercury, Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki, Tohatsu, Johnson, and Evinrude. According to the NMMA, about 235,000 outboard engines with 40 hp and greater were sold in 2023. Now, Sharrow props are available for all of them, of which 120,000 can be fitted with the new MX-A aluminium props.
The Sharrow MX-A is now available for order through the Sharrow Marine website. Orders are filled in the chronology of their placement. Sharrow expects a surge in orders in the Spring of 2025, possibly delaying delivery time.
