Belize 55 Daybridge – Classic Character, Modern Thinking

In a market where many new motor yachts are chasing increasingly sharp, futuristic styling, the Belize 55 Daybridge takes a different path. Its appeal lies in a more restrained, timeless look, combining the elegant proportions of traditional Downeaster-inspired motor yachts with contemporary engineering, offshore performance and the comforts expected of a modern luxury cruiser.

The latest addition to the Belize collection expands on the brand’s semi-custom philosophy, giving owners considerable freedom to tailor their yacht while retaining a strong emphasis on craftsmanship, cruising capability and understated luxury. The Daybridge addition introduces a second helm and elevated entertaining area without overwhelming the yacht’s clean, well-balanced profile.

Measuring 17.05m overall and carrying a generous 5.03m beam, the Belize 55 has the volume required for extended cruising. Beneath the traditional styling is a hull developed specifically around Volvo Penta IPS propulsion, with a fine entry, pronounced bow chine and keel-assisted tracking designed to provide a composed, dry and predictable ride offshore.

Power comes from twin Volvo Penta D11 IPS 950 diesels, each producing 533kW, or 725hp. The IPS system combines steerable pod drives and forward-facing, counter-rotating propellers with joystick control. Depending on specification, up to three joystick stations can be incorporated at the main helm, aft deck and Daybridge, making marina manoeuvring considerably easier aboard a yacht of this size.

It is the Daybridge, however, that really sets this version apart. Positioned above the main deck, the upper station provides commanding views and creates a separate social area, with lounge seating, wet-bar facilities and a fully equipped helm. It is an inviting place to drive on a fine day while keeping the skipper connected with guests.

Further aft, the Belize 55 has been designed around easy access to the water. A full-beam hydraulic swim platform can be lowered to create a generous waterside area at anchor, simplifying swimming, diving and launching water toys. A dedicated garage nearby provides storage for SeaBobs, diving gear and other equipment.

The cockpit combines practicality with entertaining space. Twin flush-opening transom doors, a self-draining deck, generous lockers and insulated storage bins are joined by an outdoor entertaining station incorporating an electric barbecue, refrigeration, ice maker and additional storage.

Moving forward, the alfresco deck features opposing lounges and a folding table, with the seating able to convert into a daybed. Open the wide saloon door and adjoining awning window and the cockpit, galley and saloon effectively become one continuous indoor-outdoor living space.

Positioning the galley at the aft end of the saloon reinforces that connection. Solid-surface benchtops, quality appliances, extensive refrigeration, lockers and a pull-out pantry provide the facilities required for longer cruising while ensuring whoever is preparing meals remains part of the conversation.

Further forward, generous glazing fills the saloon with natural light. An L-shaped lounge and dining area forms the main indoor relaxation space, complemented by subtle lighting and a concealed rising LED Smart TV.

The foredeck provides yet another retreat, with a large sunpad, adjustable backrests, storage and a fold-away table creating a private lounge at anchor. Optional shade can also be added for longer days outside.

Below decks, accommodation is arranged across three cabins and two bathrooms, with sleeping space for six. The full-beam master suite sits amidships and makes good use of the yacht’s substantial beam, featuring large hull windows, a queen island berth, a private lounge, extensive storage, and an ensuite bathroom.

Forward is a separate VIP stateroom, while the third cabin to starboard provides twin berths. A washer/dryer can also be specified for owners planning extended time aboard.

While the styling is deliberately traditional, the onboard technology is thoroughly modern. Volvo Penta Glass Cockpit integrates navigation, engine and vessel data across configurable displays, while CZone digital switching manages many electrical functions from a central interface.

Remote monitoring through Sentinel allows owners to check selected onboard systems and receive alerts while away from the yacht, with integrated camera systems, Starlink connectivity and stabilisation among the available options.

Produced in relatively small numbers, the Belize 55 Daybridge targets owners looking for something more individual than a mainstream production cruiser. Its strength lies in blending classic proportions and understated character with modern propulsion, technology and cruising comfort.

Add the elevated Daybridge, generous outdoor living areas, and three-cabin accommodation, and you get a serious cruising yacht with a personality very much its own.

For owners who favour timeless styling without giving up contemporary performance, comfort or technology, the Belize 55 Daybridge offers a distinctive alternative to the increasingly modern look of many new-generation motor yachts.
