CARBON CATS NOW VALDER YACHTS

by admin

Valder Yachts is the new name for Carbon Cats, a high performance foiling powercat designed by Roger Hill Yacht Design and built by Scott Lane Boatbuilders.

“We felt the Valder Yachts was a better fit for the company, as we have plans to diversify in the future so were looking for a more generic name”, says CEO and company founder, Wayne Valder.

Since launching their first yacht, the 20m Carbon Cat 20 (now the Valder 20) in late 2021, the interest in this high performance foiling powercat has been exceptional, according to Wayne.

While most of the enquires have been from New Zealand and Australia, Wayne says that he is also talking to clients from the US and Europe. While plans were to take the yacht to FLIBS this year that has now been delayed until 2023, when it is hoped #2 will be available to display.

“It seems we have really come up with a unique design that is appealing to a wide audience, especially those that want to encompass, speed, performance and economy into a high-end luxury yacht”, added Valder.

There are some layout changes to the second yacht, including a raised saloon roofline and single level saloon sole, but perhaps the most significant difference will be the adaption of a surface drive system.

Valder has chosen to run their own arrangement with straight shafts in tunnels, coupled to surface drive propellers.

“We are confident we can crack 50 knots with the same twin MAN 1300hp V8 power package”, adds Valder.

While hull #1 is still for sale on the market, the second yacht is well underway, with a release date of the first quarter of 2023. RRP is around NZ$7.5m.
