NZ Marine was saddened to hear of renowned NZ boatbuilder Chris Robertson’s passing in December 2024. A long-time, highly respected boatbuilder and yacht designer, Chris worked with other renowned NZ designers and builders such as Lidgard Bros, Col Wild, Jim Young and Brin Wilson before setting up his own boat-building business in 1960.  Chris was also a skilled sailor and won the 1950 Sanders Cup, in his designed and built X-Class Amethyst. He also had success in the Admiral’s Cup and Sydney Hobart race.
Our sympathy goes to Chris Robertson’s family, including his sons Conrad of Robertson Boats and Martin of Quayside Boatyard.
