Dockmate’s new DPS V2 Positioning System now gives skippers even more precise control over the positioning of their vessels. Incredibly useful in a wide variety of situations, DPS V2 provides precise, easy control when manoeuvring within the confines of a marina, in congested waters or when holding a spot at a fuel jetty.
Able to be used from anywhere on board, DPS V2 is not only great for virtually anchoring (eg: staying in position over a deep water fishing spot without having to deploy the anchor), it also allows vessels to hold station in marine protection areas and other places where anchoring is not permitted. Able to hold both position and alignment by automatically compensating for wind and tide, with no need for constant adjustments by the skipper, DPS V2 offers two modes of operation.
In Ocean Mode, DPS V2 holds position using only the engines. This is useful when coming into the dock or marina shorthanded, allowing the skipper to prepare lines and fenders; or in open water, where a higher degree of precision isn’t necessary.
In Precision Mode, which requires the vessel to have proportional bow and stern thrusters, DPS V2 controls both the engines and the thrusters for precise heading and position holding.
DPS V2 employs state of the art technology driven by an IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) with compass, accelerometer, gyroscope and GNSS antenna for pinpoint accuracy. Like with all Dockmate products, simplicity of operation is a key feature of DPS V2, evident in the unit’s contemporary helm control design. Suitable for both new and existing vessels, DPS V2 can be easily retro-fitted, with minimal changes in hardware, to any boat with existing Dockmate wireless docking system and a G+ receiver.
