BIA President Adam Smith has announced that Andrew Scott will transition to Chief Financial Officer, strengthening the Executive leadership team with unanimous Board support.
Fielding brings over 30 years of industry experience and nearly 10 years with the BIA, including roles such as Qld State Chair, BIA Board Chair, President, and Business Development Manager. He also serves on several boards, including the Gold Coast Waterways Authority and the AMSA National Safety Committee.
“I’m excited to take on this role and work alongside Andrew Scott as CFO,” said Fielding. “Our combined strengths will help tackle current economic challenges and deliver the best outcomes for our members.”
Andrew Scott, with over 30 years of marine industry experience, will focus on his core expertise in finance as CFO. “While BIA has a strong financial base, there are opportunities to further enhance our resilience and effectiveness for members,” he said.
Scott also serves as Treasurer for the International Federation of Boat Show Organisers and represents BIA internationally.
Founded in 1960, the BIA is Australia’s peak industry body for boating, supporting members in various sectors like design, manufacturing, retail, and services. The boating industry generates over $10 billion annually and directly employs over 27,500 people. With 85% of Australians living near the coast, almost 1 in 5 households own a boat, and approximately 5 million people participate in boating each year.
