Fleming Yachts is pleased to announce the appointment of Fleming Yachts New Zealand, a newly established representative dedicated to the sales, marketing and support of Fleming motor yachts throughout New Zealand. Fleming Yachts New Zealand will operate in conjunction with European Marine Imports, based at Westhaven Marina in Auckland, providing Fleming with a dedicated presence in one of the world’s most active and experienced boating markets.
The new operation will be run by the Henshaw family, who bring extensive experience in the New Zealand marine industry and an established presence at Westhaven Marina.
The appointment forms part of Fleming Yachts’ continuing commitment to strengthening its representation and customer support in key markets around the world.
“New Zealand has always been a natural market for Fleming,” said Duncan Cowie of Fleming Yachts. “New Zealand boat owners tend to be very experienced and place a high value on seaworthiness, engineering, range and practical cruising capability – qualities that have been central to Fleming from the beginning.”
“We have been looking carefully at how we can develop the Fleming brand in New Zealand over the longer term. Establishing Fleming Yachts New Zealand with the Henshaw family gives us a strong local presence, backed by people who understand both the market and the expectations of serious cruising boat owners.”
A Natural Fit for New Zealand Cruising
Fleming motor yachts have earned an international reputation as capable long-range cruising yachts, combining traditional pilothouse styling with contemporary engineering, systems and construction.
The range is particularly well suited to New Zealand conditions, where owners frequently encounter long coastal passages, exposed waters and rapidly changing weather.
Fleming yachts are built at the Tung Hwa facility in Taiwan, where the company maintains close control over construction, engineering and quality. The current Fleming range comprises the Fleming 55, Fleming 58, Fleming 60, Fleming 65 and Fleming 85, offering owners a progression of yachts designed around the same fundamental philosophy of safe, comfortable and efficient long-distance cruising. The recently introduced Fleming 60 builds upon the proven Fleming 58 hull platform while providing additional accommodation and exterior living space, including a crew cabin and raised aft California deck.
At the upper end of the range, the Fleming 85 represents the largest yacht Fleming has produced and applies the company’s established design and engineering philosophy to a considerably larger platform.
Dedicated New Zealand Representation
Fleming Yachts New Zealand will provide a direct point of contact for prospective Fleming owners and existing customers throughout the country, including assistance with new yacht specification, purchase, delivery and ongoing ownership support. Being based at Westhaven Marina places the new operation at the centre of Auckland’s boating community and provides Fleming with an important base from which to further develop the brand in New Zealand.
“Buying a Fleming is typically the beginning of a long relationship with both the yacht and the company,” Cowie added. “Local representation is therefore extremely important to us. We want owners to have knowledgeable people close at hand who understand the boats and who have a direct relationship with the factory.”
The establishment of Fleming Yachts New Zealand also reflects Fleming Yachts’ broader commitment to the Asia-Pacific region, complementing the company’s established representation in Australia and other international markets.
