Brunswick-owned club reaches milestone less than three years after its Sydney launch and now operates 14 regional locations.
Freedom Boat Club has expanded to 14 locations across Australia and New Zealand since launching its Asia-Pacific operation on Sydney Harbour in July 2023, according to the company. The Brunswick-owned boat club said it has now surpassed 500 memberships in the region, while its global network extends to more than 450 locations.
“Reaching 500 members in APAC is an exciting milestone and a clear signal that the Freedom Boat Club model is resonating strongly in this market,” said David Kurczewski, Brunswick vice president and general manager, Freedom Boat Club Asia-Pacific. “In a relatively short period of time, we’ve introduced a completely new brand and a new way to access the water that removes the traditional barriers to boat ownership while opening the door to more people enjoying time on the water.”
Freedom Boat Club operates on a subscription model, giving members access to a fleet of boats while the company handles maintenance, cleaning, storage and other operational requirements. The company said it plans to continue expanding its network in Australia and New Zealand. “We’re still in the early stages of what we see as a significant long-term opportunity in the region. This milestone is just the beginning,” Kurczewski added. The Asia-Pacific growth comes alongside continued expansion in Europe. In July, IBI reported on Freedom Boat Club’s expansion in France, with new locations in Sète and Gruissan, followed later that month by two new Spanish bases in Cádiz and Mazarrón.
Freedom Boat Club, acquired by Brunswick Corporation in 2019, is the world’s largest boat club, with more than 100,000 members and over 450 locations globally. Brunswick is one of the world’s largest recreational marine groups, with businesses spanning Mercury propulsion, boat building, marine electronics and technology, parts and accessories, and shared-access services.
