GLI STRENGTHENS PRESENCE AS FAIRWAY MOTOR YACHTS MAKES A TRIUMPHANT RETURN

The Boat Works has firmly established itself as Australia’s Boat Sales epicentre, bringing together the nation’s leading boat brokers and one of the most comprehensive selections of new and pre-owned vessels. Renowned as a destination for maintenance, repair, refit and sales, the world-class Gold Coast precinct showcases dozens of international power, sail, multihull and monohull brands.

Open seven days a week, The Boat Works functions as a permanent, year-round boat show, with vessels displayed both on-water and across its distinctive out-of-water hardstand. Buyers can compare models, consult experts and arrange sea trials all in one location. Among the specialist brokerages on site is Geoff Lovett International (GLI), which relocated from Marina Mirage to The Boat Works in 2024, strengthening its presence and capabilities.

“The Boat Works is now our headquarters,” says GLI owner Perry James. “We’ve moved into two premium premises in The Wharf precinct, next to The Galley Restaurant.”

GLI’s continued growth is driven by the depth of experience within its team. Industry veterans Col McPherson and Stewart Smith bring decades of expertise, with Smith recognised as a leading authority on new builds and Fairway Motor Yachts. GLI also fields specialists in sports and fishing boats, alongside Jay and Yasmin Edwards, who lead the North Queensland sales and charter operation.

The brokerage’s diverse portfolio spans commercial and surveyed charter vessels, sports cruisers, sportfishers, luxury motor yachts and premium new builds from brands including Baglietto, Selene, Deep V, Fairway and Castoldi. Anticipation is building for the arrival of Australia’s first Baglietto DOM 133 in 2027—a 40-metre superyacht designed for long-range cruising in Australian and Pacific waters.

Adding further momentum is the return of Fairway Motor Yachts to its Gold Coast home. Founded in 1982, Fairway is now represented exclusively by GLI at The Boat Works. Leading the revival is Stewart Smith, who has been closely involved with the brand since 2012 and brings hands-on experience across design, production and delivery.

Fairway built its reputation on premium craftsmanship, efficiency and bluewater capability, with more than 130 Fairway 36s produced locally. Today’s refreshed range includes the evolved 37 Series, plus the 47, 52 and flagship 58 models. Designed by naval architect Howard Apollonio, the larger models deliver impressive internal volume, modern systems and refined efficiency, while retaining Fairway’s practical layouts and seakeeping ability. A key differentiator is a six-month turnaround from specification to delivery, with greater customisation available on larger models.

Looking ahead to 2026 and beyond, GLI remains focused on steady, strategic growth. With respected global brands, Fairway Motor Yachts and comprehensive marine services all within one precinct, The Boat Works continues to define the benchmark for boating excellence in Australia.
