When Grand Banks launched the GB60 in 2017, it quickly struck a chord with serious long-range cruisers. Fast-forward to today, and the all-new Grand Banks 62 takes everything owners loved about the GB60 and pushes it further, offering the space, comfort, and performance Grand Banks is renowned for. The Grand Banks 62 is a yacht built for all oceans and all seasons, just as comfortable island-hopping around the Bay of Islands as it is crossing the Tasman or venturing through the Pacific.
FIRST IMPRESSIONS
Step aboard, and the first thing that stands out is the high level of finish and craftsmanship. The additional length has created a convenient starboard guest cabin featuring an athwartships double berth, an extra single, and its own ensuite, transforming the GB62 into a genuine three-stateroom, three-head passagemaker. A separate utility space with a washer/dryer adds practicality for extended cruising. The GB62 retains the classic Grand Banks profile: beautiful sheer line, timeless design, and a hull built with the latest construction technology. Expansive walk-around decks, high bulwarks, and solid handholds make movement safe and easy, while the extended boat deck shades the cockpit below, creating a versatile all-weather entertaining area.
CHOICE AND CUSTOMISATION
Owners can choose between Flybridge and Skylounge versions, both with a generous 5.84 metre beam. Layouts are flexible, offering three or four cabins and galley options either up or down. The Skylounge has proven especially popular, providing a climate-controlled upper living area that doubles as a second saloon, with an extended bridge deck for tender storage.
TECHNOLOGY BELOW THE WATERLINE
The Grand Banks 62 is built using Grand Banks’ V-WARP technology®, developed from CEO Mark Richards’ ocean-racing background. Rather than relying on sheer horsepower, the hull works with the water: a fine entry, subtle curvature, and minimal transom deadrise provide lift, buoyancy, and stability, maintaining a steady five-degree running angle across a wide speed range. “Our buyers appreciate that speed, range, and efficiency aren’t mutually exclusive,” says Richards. Built from resin-infused E-glass bonded to a full carbon-fibre structure, the GB62’s hull is light, strong, and remarkably rigid, translating to impressive fuel economy and a soft, confident ride offshore.
LIFE ON BOARD
The full-beam master suite amidships offers liveaboard comfort with a king berth, generous storage, and an airy, open feel. The forward VIP cabin features a queen berth and private head, while the main saloon is flooded with natural light from large opening windows. The lower helm provides excellent visibility for serious passagemaking, and the craftsmanship
throughout is pure Grand Banks: refined, warm, and beautifully detailed.
PERFORMANCE AND RANGE
Standard power comes from twin 900-hp Volvo D13s, with optional 1,000-hp D13s or Volvo IPS 1200S. Expect a 30-knot top speed and an efficient 27-knot cruise, burning just 144 litres per hour at 20 knots. For long hauls, the GB62 offers a 2,000-nautical-mile range at 10 knots,
giving true bluewater capability. The Grand Banks 62 isn’t just an update; it’s a major evolution. With increased volume, innovative layouts, advanced hull design, and long-legged efficiency, it’s a true passagemaker for the modern cruiser – ready for Fiordland, Fiji, or beyond.
