GY Boat Design 13.8m Power Boat

by admin

GY Boat design was commissioned to develop the design for the 13.8m motorboat by the New Zealander sailor and yacht designer Murray Ross to be built in Fiji.

The cockpit floor height and drainage, down flooding height and angles, stability requirements and structure comply with European RCD II requirements as appropriate and can be classified for CE approval category A – Ocean.

To ensure that all structural and interior components are manufactured to the finest tolerances and all machinery, systems and equipment are fitted in an appropriate manner, the boat’s structure and all its parts, interior and equipment were 3D modelled.

The hull is built from marine grade aluminium alloy and standard extrusions.

All structure plates and all the interior timber panels e.g. bulkheads, flooring panels, cabinetry panels, window and door glasses, deck antiskid sheets, topside wraps, etc. were CNC cut in Auckland and shipped to Fiji as a flat pack.

The interior layout is to suit a family of two. In the main saloon the settee and the dining table are on port. On starboard, there is a cabinetry, sink, fridge and cooled wine cabined.

The galley forward of the saloon is on port and comprises a double burner, sink, dishwasher and 130L fridge, lockers and drawers. The helm is on starboard with double 19” Furuno display screens, full navigation package, switches, etc.

The large bathroom with shower, basin and toilet are at front and below the helmsmen dashboard. The front cabin is the master bedroom with the usual island queen bed and wardrobes, shelfs and drawers on both sides.

The cockpit is open with side seating and storage lockers under. The BBQ is aft in a custom designed aluminium hooded cabinet with lockers and shelfs. The swim (re-boarding) ladder is stored into the swim platform’s pocket and can be reached and deployed from the water. The whole cockpit is sun protected by Discus folding awning system installed under the cabin roof top.

The boat is powered by twin FTP N67 570HP coupled with HJ292@0 deg., equipped with Paguro Vario 8kW generator and separate air-conditioning systems for the accommodation areas and the engine room. Some other features are the sole panels on cabin top, Maxwell HRC10 (8mm gypsy) anchor winch, Lewmar hatches and portlights, Seamac sliding cabin door and windows.

Jokerman has a max length of 14.08m, beam of 4.08m, waterline length of 12.19m and displacement (Half load) of 9570 Kg.
