BEAUTY & BRAWN
Among the head-turning vessels on the marina at Sanctuary Cove, the Hampton Endurance 680 is remarkable for her broad beam and enticing transom, leading the eye up to the capacious cockpit, and above, a massive sundeck space.
Designed and built by Ryan Leigh-Smith in collaboration with a repeat owner of the esteemed brand, the Hampton Endurance 680 is a purpose-built long-range cruiser, and the 120th Leigh-Smith Yachts new build ranging from 38 to 95 feet delivered to Australian shores.
Following the meticulous 12-month build process and marking a significant milestone in the brand’s evolution, the 22-metre motor yacht sets a new standard for the ultimate long-range cruising experience.
“The Hampton Endurance 680 seamlessly blends elegance, performance, and versatility” said Leigh-Smith Yachts Managing Director, Ryan Leigh-Smith.
As the name indicates, the Hampton Endurance 680 was purpose-built with serious cruising capabilities. It would make the ideal passagemaker for a family or couple seeking to enjoy coastal cruising or further afield, with all the comforts of a stately home.
The initial concept was for a 65-footer, but Hampton Yachts’ Managing Director, Jeff Chen, son of the brand founder, C.Y. Chen, suggested the step up.
This latest model boasts a sleek, contemporary profile without losing any of the classic character Hampton motor yachts are prized for.
A wide transom ensures safe ingress. The custom-made hydraulic platform is ideal for launching water toys, while stainless stern rails are a safety feature and practical for tying up tenders and inflatables.
Accessed via the watertight lazarette door, are the engine room, utility space and dedicated crew cabin, comprising double bed with single bunk above, WC, separate shower and wet bar with fridge/freezer, microwave and icemaker.
Dual staircases with superyacht-style glass gates lead up to the fully covered cockpit with a long teak table and banquette seating is an inviting space for alfresco dining and relaxing. Beneath the seating, there are skylight windows which shed light on the crew quarters below.
Flybridge access is via portside stairs with spot LED lights to guide guests. Tinted glass sliding doors open fully to create a pleasant indoor-outdoor flow to the saloon.
A convenient day head is located to starboard, and adjacent is a servery with storage underneath. When Med-mooring isn’t possible, a side access door on each side of the cockpit can be used.
Twin-Disc Quick Shift controllers are installed on each side, and wide, walkaround decks which feature sideway doors that protect the aft deck activities from any annoying wind flow, culminate in a Portuguese deck on the bow.
The versatile foredeck area has two two- seaters and plenty of room for sunpads or bean bags when guests want to relax while at anchor or enjoy sundowners with one of the best views in the house.

BESPOKE CRAFTSMANSHIP IN IMPECCABLE INTERIORS
Inside, the saloon is a celebration of craftsmanship and design. The satin-finish cherry wood timber was sourced from a single tree, which is evident in the consistent tone and grain.
Here, the generous beam can be fully appreciated in the open plan layout, large picture windows
framing the water views, and a logic of layout that complements, does not compete with, the panoramas. Silhouette blinds from Hunter Douglas provide protection and privacy, while recessed windows create a buffer from the lounge and handy place to place décor, or a hat, book, phone when the blinds are up.
Carpeted and cosy, the lounge boasts custom-made furnishings from Pacific Trim, large L-shaped lounge with capacious storage underneath, mobile chairs with the foot stools that open to store your treasures, and a coffee table. The entertainment unit portside consists of Fusion soundbar, retractable Samsung 55-inch flatscreen TV, storage and the ubiquitous wine fridge and icemaker.
Discreetly located aft is the companionway to the crew quarters and engine room.
Stepping up, the vessel opens up into a dynamic forward section that comprises galley, wheelhouse and second lounge/dining space, while still maintaining a connection with the saloon.
For entertaining on board and long sojourns at sea, the galley has the proportions and appliances of a professional Chef’s setup, including Corian benches for meal prep, ample storage overhead and below, a full-size LG double-door fridge/freezer with ice-water dispenser, Westinghouse induction stove and oven, Sharp convection microwave and Fisher & Paykel dishwasher.
The deep stainless-steel sink and modern mixer add a contemporary touch to counterpoint the impeccably hewn cabinetry. There are charge points in all the right places, recognising our reliance on technology whether that be for iPad, AirPods or air fryer!
Three bar/kitchen stools with softpads to protect the teak and holly gloss flooring are neatly integrated into the bench in a rack-shelf arrangement, in case conditions become rough.
The super-social C-shaped dinette on the portside of the helm features a nifty sliding table that adapts to the occasion and boasts cabinets within, and there’s additional storage space under the raised pilothouse floor – in case anybody doubted this long-range cruiser’s credentials!
This self-contained arrangement is brilliant for long stints between anchorages, to keep the skipper company and guests fed and watered while they watch on.
Two pantograph doors side doors facilitate docking and ease of access for guests to all parts of the boat, as well as enhancing airflow.
The ergonomically designed helm is decked out with three, 24-inch Garmin screens and perfectly placed controls and monitors for every on board function: Twin Disc controllers, ABT-TRAC at-rest stabilizers, Humphree Interceptor trim tabs, Dometic tank monitors, fuel and water gauges, rode counter, local and international VHS, and a screen devoted to the cameras located all over the boat. Two custom-made helm chairs and a wraparound windscreen for optimal visibility complete the picture.

FLYBRIDGE FOR LEISURE AND LIFESTYLE
An elegant companionway spirals up to the flybridge, protected by a glass hatch to allow in light, but protect from inclement weather.
The flybridge is yet another convivial social space. With hardtop protection, it comprises a second helm two Garmin screens, two leather Pompanette chairs, L-shaped seating and granite table – which cleverly converts to a day bed – Chefmaster barbecue grill and prep area with underneath lockers, icemaker, sink and fridge.
A freshwater tap is useful for cleaning the decks and grill, and drains are positioned in each corner to take care of any overflow from rain, cleaning or sea spray, while side walkways are practical for securing clears, cleaning the vessel and assisting with docking.
The vast deck area is truly breathtaking. Even with a 1,500lbs hydraulic davit (680kgs) there’s plenty of room for a tender, dive gear or watertoys, or for simply whiling away the days on sunlounges. Of course, owners could add an awning for added comfort under the summer sun.
The staircase down to the aft deck is covered by a hatch – one more safety feature that ticks the aesthetics box as well. If extra gear needs to be stowed, there’s a ladder to the hardtop roof.

ALL THE COMFORTS OF HOME
Below decks, accessed by a companionway to starboard in the wheelhouse, guest comfort was paramount
in the design of the three staterooms. Ducted air- conditioning throughout is just one of the on board essentials this home-away-from-home offers.
Descending to the foyer, separate F&P washer and dryer are tucked away in cabinets divided by a multi- purpose drawer. Beneath the floor is access to the vessel’s holding tank.
Every aspect of aesthetics and practicality is considered in the full-beam master, positioned amidships for optimal comfort and privacy.
The centreline king-sized bed contains drawers in its base, and full-height cedar-lined closets provide impressive wardrobe space and shelves. Bedside cabinets have built-in charging ports as well as cupboards. Beneath the three-piece porthole windows, two of which can be opened for fresh air, are a vanity, swing stool and Garmin chart plotter for the owner- operator’s peace of mind. Opposite is lounge seating, cabinets, a full-length mirror and wardrobe. The Samsung LED TV and Fusion stereo complete the picture.
In superyacht style, the master ensuite features his & hers basins, WC and full-height shower. Rubber-lined doorways reduce vibration and add to noise-proofing throughout the vessel.
The VIP stateroom is positioned in the bow, boasting 7-foot head height that adds to the feeling of space. Guests are treated to a queen-sized bed with LED lighting at its base, ample storage, seating and TV. An overhead hatch provides natural light and airflow, while two in-hull windows are ingeniously integrated into the bulkhead cabinetry.
The third guest cabin, located to port, comprises twin beds convertible to a queen. These two cabins share a dual-access bathroom with large shower, WC, basin, and a mirrored ceiling which enhances its dimensions.

SUPERIOR HULL DESIGN FOR LONG-RANGE CRUISING
The innovative Split-Chine hull of the Hampton 680 is where this model really stands out above its competitors.
The solid fibreglass hull is built with Reinforced Kevlar and advanced resin technologies for superior strength and durability.
Designed by the legendary trawler yacht designer and Naval Architect, Howard Apollonio, it has been refined through intensive tank testing. Its fine entry and flared bow deliver optimised performance and efficiency through reducing drag, with added bonuses of improved handling in rough waters and at anchor for enhanced on board comfort, stability and safety.
ABT Trac 33hp hydraulic bow and stern thrusters and ABT Trac at rest stabilisers virtually eliminate roll for comfort in any sea-state.
Rest assured, powered by 1136hp CAT Diesels propelling straight shafts with Veem propellers, performance and efficiency go hand in hand. From sea trials on the Broadwater and out past the Seaway, the Hampton Endurance 680 has proven itself worthy of the long-range bluewater motor yacht mantle, cruising effortlessly at 10 knots and with a top speed of 21+ knots for a sprint when required.
The 8000 Litre fuel capacity equates to an exceptional range of 2246 nautical miles cruising at 7.3 knots (800rpm). You can anticipate consuming around 360LPH while at 17 knots (2100rpm).

A HISTORY OF TOP-TIER MOTOR YACHTS
All Hampton Yachts owe their industry quality construction and design principles to founder, C.Y. Chen, a dedicated ocean enthusiast who transitioned from building sailboats to designing and building superlative motor yachts for international distribution.
The company employ 200 skilled artisans with decades of experience. With over 2,000 hulls launched since 1965, Hampton Yachts’ reputation for quality, design, and craftsmanship is world-renowned.
CUSTOM-CRAFTED TO OWNER SPECIFICATIONS
Owners are welcome to visit the Hamptons’ factory to gain a deeper insight into the brand and its proficiencies, and observe the skilled workforce and their passion for the product.
“What struck me was their attention to detail,” said the collaborative owner. “There was a large stock of freshly-milled timber in pride of place and specially selected for its quality and grain. You can build your own vessel with its own character and know that your vision will be perfectly brought to life.”
Ryan Leigh-Smith echoed the sentiment. “As soon as we docked the 680 at our berths at Sanctuary Cove, the level of interest has been phenomenal.
“The Endurance 680 represents over 60 years of industry expertise, developed in partnership with one of Asia Pacific’s leading shipyards to create a vessel that truly sets the standard in specifications.
“With each new generation, we enhance both technology and elegance, resulting in a model that is longer, wider, and filled with luxurious amenities, offering a distinctly elevated atmosphere compared to its competitors.
“The Hampton Endurance 680 will take pride of place in our display at SCIBS 2025, and we’re confident the quality, finish, value and the scope of what’s possible will inspire others to get on board.”
