Good Newz formerly No Xcuse was re- launched recently at McMullen and Wing after her extensive re-power/re-fit.
What do you do when your current yacht isn’t quite fit for purpose? You either refit, or you sell it and buy a new one, right? Wrong. For the owner of No Xcuse, a 60ft Icon 60 sportfisher built by Formula Cruisers, the solution was a little more extreme.
In her original form, No Xcuse was fitted with triple 600 HP Cummins engines with Zeus pod drives and she has been not only repowered by has undergone a serious rear end transformation. The team at McMullen & Wing carefully removed the stern module of No Xcuse and working to a new design by LOMOcean, grafted on a new stern module, along with new engines and drive train.
When launched, Good Newz floated exactly to here lines and has exceeded expectations. During commissioning trials in testing 30 knot winds she recording over 33 knots in full coastal load displacement from her twin Scania Di 16 1180 bhp engines coupled to the complete ZF supplied driveline from the back of the engine to propeller nut including everything in between.
She also features a full complement of ZF control and manoeuvring systems, namely; ZF Smart Command, ZF Steer command independent electric steering, ZF JMS joy stick manoeuvring system, ZF iDrift and iAnchor assisted by a powerful TRAC bow thruster.
She has Pacific island range at over 10 knots boat speed without the need for supplementary passage fuel tanks. Look for a full review on Good Newz in a forthcoming issue of Pacific PowerBoat.
