Locals and visitors to Noosa will soon have a new ferry – described as a “big, beautiful ute on water”, that will cater for up to 52 passengers, including 14 guests in wheelchairs.
Designed by the esteemed NZ boat designer, Roger Hill, and currently in build at Noosa Marine by Julian Griffiths and his team, the new ferry is a 12m x 6m multihull that will complement the existing heritage fleet that’s famous for river cruises.
The ferry will be a fully-accessible, hybrid-powered (low-emission petrol and electric engines) with solar panels on the roof for close to silent cruising. The visionary behind the vessel is local, David Stielow who has owned and run the Noosa Ferry & Cruise Company since 2019. No stranger to the boating industry, David has run charter yacht businesses in the Whitsundays and Great Barrier Reef, and is looking forward to introducing the delights of Noosa to a whole new market.
