It’s been 56 years since the first offshore powerboat race was run in New Zealand, with the 1964 Atlantic 100 and Epiglass 40 events in Auckland, attracting a staggering 103 competitors. Since then the sport has had its highs and lows, it has produced several world champions, seen incredible developments in race boat design and developed a camaraderie amongst competitors that has lasted decades.

Being billed as THE HISTORY TO THE FUTURE, it is now time to all get-together and celebrate the sport with a look at the past and with an eye to the future. Offshore powerboat racing has produced its heroes, its villains, it’s dramas and its memorable moments. So, now is your chance to come along and rub shoulders and share stories with 100s of equally as passionate people that have been part of offshore powerboat racing for over 50 years.
Come and joins as we reflect on over 50 years of offshore powerboat racing in New Zealand. To anyone who has been involved, raced, or followed offshore powerboat racing in New Zealand over the past 56 years, this is a night not to be missed.
The venue and ticket prices have yet to be decided. The Black Tie Gala will be in Auckland on Saturday, October 31, 6.00 pm till late, with dinner and a great band so you can rock the night away.
