A subscriber sent us this classic image of an iconic boat that has been in his family for close to 57 years.
It is a double diagonal planked, Kauri, 29 ft Vindex, that he thinks was the second Vindex built by Jim Young in Birkenhead, Auckland.
It was built for his grandfather, Arnold Downer in 1964. Launched in Kinloch, Taupo and has been on a mooring in Acacia Bay ever since. It is in good order and powered by two recently rebuilt original Volvo B20’s with AQ200 stern drives. It has remained in the family and has provided much entertainment over the last 57 years.
