Rayglass Boats, a Brunswick Corporation (NYSE: BC) brand and leading designer and manufacturer of premium power boats, have just announced the launch of a new Protector Expedition Series. This is the first major evolution of Protector hardtop design in nearly seven years. Built on the proven Protector platform, the Expedition Series features a redesign that delivers additional functionality, versatility and comfort for boaters seeking extended offshore adventures.
The redesigned hardtop includes a massive 800 mm of additional fore and aft length, creating 5.6 square meters of total roof space and providing additional capacity for equipment such as for roof racks, kayaks, mountain bikes and solar panels. A key part of this redesign is the forward-sloping windscreen. This enables improved visibility from the helm, reduced screen glare, and less condensation, while also giving the boat a contemporary profile.
The redesign also enhances the onboard experience with a more spacious cabin environment through the forward-sloping windscreen, additional hardtop length, and larger side windows, offering an open and functional helm area. The increased overhead area also provides greater flexibility for mounting electronics and other equipment, while enhancing overall comfort and practicality on board. The new Expedition vessels retain the proven Protector design heritage but lean into a more European vessel influence than current models in the New Zealand market. Powertrains available include inboard up to 740 hp and outboard Mercury Marine 1,200 hp.
Developed in Response to Customer Demand
At the end of 2022, the owner of a large superyacht in Europe commissioned a custom Protector through Ancasta Yacht Services. This was the genesis of the new Protector Expedition model. Following the initial custom build, interest from customers across multiple markets drove demand for the new design and ultimately the development of the Protector Expedition Series. Rayglass Boats is currently building the moulds to keep up with demand across the Protector range.
Designed for Adventure-oriented Boaters
The Protector Expedition is available on the 380 and 410 Protector platform. These are for the adventurers, boaters with big plans and big gear, commercial users and those who want a unique vessel currently only seen on the deck of one European superyacht.
“The Protector Expedition originated from a custom project commissioned by one of our customers, and the response from boaters was immediate,” said Gregor Wilson, lead designer for Rayglass Boats. “Interest in the design continued to grow, reinforcing the demand for a platform that delivers additional versatility and capability while maintaining the offshore performance Protector is known for.”
“The Expedition Series builds on the proven Protector platform with meaningful enhancements to functionality, storage capacity and onboard comfort,” Wilson said. “It delivers greater flexibility for extended adventures while retaining the performance and durability that define the Protector brand.”
