To be held on Saturday 28 March, there’s something for everyone at the annual Onetangi Beach races.
While the event attracts a huge crowd and includes a host of activities for children (don’t miss the sandcastle competition), the Fullers Fashion on the Foreshore event, a silent auction, and a beachside market, it is the Sealegs exhibition race that is so unique. It is a sight you’ll see nowhere else in the world. Watch the largest fleet of Sealegs Amphibians race each other on land and sea off and on Onetangi Beach.
Plus, there’s all the excitement of the horse and tractor race and new this year, the Waka Ama Race and the roaring Thundercats race. Fashionistas, young and old, compete for the Fullers Fashion in the Field competition, and the Uniformed Services challenge is hugely competitive. Support the day by bidding on the Silent Auction.
The event is a crucial fundraiser for charity and community projects and supported by Rotary Waiheke. This iconic event has been going for over 100 years and gets better and better. It’s all about the classic pleasures of a Kiwi day out on the beach with the fun of the races and competitions. Pack up your friends and family, take an early Sealink or Fullers ferry and come to Waiheke for the best free day out in Auckland.
A race day isn’t the same without the excitement of a flutter. Buy one of the race packs, which contains a full race programme and tickets for the Tote. You’ve got to be in to win! It’s the best family day out you’ll have this summer, there are loads of activities for the kids. You can choose to watch or join in – don’t miss out!
The event is supported by the naming rights sponsor Sealegs and Gold Sponsors Sealink and Fullers.
