Smuggler Marine

Amphibious boats are all the rage and Smuggler Marine are one of the best exponents of this versatile style of boating. The new Smuggler Strata 10.5 is their latest creation.

SMUGGLER STRATA 1050 AMPHIBIOUS

Smuggler Marine are currently working on an exciting new design for an amphibious 10.5m RIB, which utilises the popular Strata 900 / 1000 / 1100 RIB hull moulds. This new venture between Smuggler and amphibious system producer Orion has a 6-wheel 6.5 tonne hydraulic system. It will be powered by two 300hp outboards.

The engineering has been done for the hull and deck structure, and work is progressing on the interior layout which includes a lounge area forward and aft of a bowrider type console area, with seating for twelve people. The aft cockpit includes a bar and barbecue, with removable picnic table.

This particular design has developed from talking to Smuggler clients who want to go further afield, for example from Auckland to Great Barrier, and not be constrained by changeable weather conditions. It will cruise at 30 knots making the trip to Gt Barrier fast and comfortable. The Strata 1050 amphibious is the ultimate cruising picnic boat and will be popular not only around the islands of the Hauraki Gulf, but also export markets such as the Pacific Islands, Australia and Europe.

Being amphibious, the Strata 1050 will give Smuggler clients the versatility of both launching and getting ashore without the need for trailers or heavy tow vehicles. Customers who have a Smuggler RIB from this mould include Coastguard, charter boats in the Pacific Islands and private recreational users. It is a well proven hull with all owners remarking on the dry comfortable ride.

Smuggler Marine are excited to be launching this new model in 2020 and the interest it will no doubt generate.
