South Island Marathon Dates

Missing your racing fix, then maybe it’s time to head to the South Island and catch up with one of the powerboat marathons.

Marathon dates for the New Zealand Boat Marathon Commission South Island 2020 Season are as follows:

ROUND 1 – July 4 – 5th -Twin Lakes (Lake Benmore & Aviemore)

 ROUND 2 – July 18th – Waihola

ROUND 3 – Aug 1st – 2nd – Cromwell (Lake Dunstan & Roxburgh)

ROUND 4 – Aug 15th – Te Anau 15th

Once again, the fields will be made up predominantly of super quick single outboard monos and cats, with a strong showing again from the North island Teams. Defending champion Craig Archer will be competing to defend his title, in Playco and will have competition from brother Brett in, Hirepool, a Mercury powered Stealth powercat.

Entries are open for the first round, with currently around 20 boats entered. However, the organisers say they expect that to swell by another 10-15 boats by race day, showing the strength of the sport in the South Island.
