Announces Major Partners for 2024.

Presented by the Boating Industry Association Ltd (BIA) in conjunction with event delivery partner Mulpha Events, the four-day event held in Sydney’s Darling Harbour will be further supported this year by Partner in Safety, Transport for NSW; official event partners Century Batteries, GMSV Australia and Walcon Marine Australia; and media partner Ocean Media. Transport for NSW returns as the long running  “partner in safety”, whilst it is the first year that Century Batteries, GMSV and Walcon Marine Australia will be joining one of the world’s premier boat shows.

Transport for NSW Deputy Secretary for Safety Environment and Regulation, Sally Webb said the Sydney International Boat Show is an important element of the Maritime Safety Plan 2022–2026, which aims to achieve zero fatalities and serious injuries on navigable waterways in NSW by 2056. “For the millions of people each year who spend time on NSW waterways, safety should always be front of mind. Transport for NSW is proud to once again be partnering with the Sydney International Boat Show to host the Boating Safety Zone, a one-stop-shop for information on how to have a positive experience on the water by making safe decisions. Boating is an enjoyable and accessible activity if you’re doing it safely, including wearing a lifejacket and carrying the correct safety equipment.”

As an official event partner, GMSV is set to make a grand entrance with its inaugural display centred around the theme ‘Live Big. Truck It.’ Visitors will be able to experience the three new MY24 variants for the first time at the Show and see the new era of towing capabilities first hand, whether it’s hauling a fishing boat, sailboat or ski boat.

Walcon Marine Australia will also feature as an event partner, aiming to leverage the extensive consumer and industry reach of the Show to showcase their design, manufacture and supply elements of their floating marina systems for commercial and residential developments.

For 2024, the Show has also aligned with the Melanoma Institute Australia as the official charity partner to raise awareness around sun safety. Melanoma Institute Australia CEO, Matthew Browne said, “we are delighted to be a charity partner for the Sydney International Boat Show which will put sun safety front of mind for thousands of boating enthusiasts.” Mr Browne continues, “we have the highest melanoma rates in the world, with one Australian diagnosed with this potentially deadly form of skin cancer every 30 minutes. The sheer number of hours spent outdoors in the sun, combined with the reflection of UV from the water, makes boating a particularly high-risk activity in terms of sun exposure. We are urging everyone at this year’s Show to ‘get onboard with sun safety’ and give it the same importance as other life-saving safety measures when out on the water. We thank the Boating Industry Association for its ongoing support in helping us reach our mission of zero deaths from melanoma.”

BIA President, Adam Smith said that the support of these partners underscores the high profile and influence that the Show holds within the marine industry and general boating communities. “Over the past 55 editions the Sydney International Boat Show has built a solid reputation as a standout event nationally and as one of only a handful of internationally recognised boat shows on the global boating calendar. Our partners clearly understand the social and economic benefits this Show delivers for Sydney, where the event last year resulted in AUD$345 million of economic output and added 980 jobs,” Mr Smith said.
