TESLA CYBERTRUCK ELECTRIC BOAT

A Seattle based company is looking to transforming the Tesla Cybertruck into an electric boat.

Despite production of Tesla’s electric Cybertruck being delayed another year to the end of  2023, a number of third-party accessory providers are already lining up to be available at the launch; the coolest among them, a kit to convert the Cybertruck to an electric boat.

Cybercat, is a Seattle, Washington-based company created by Anthony Diamond, Ph.D., dreamed about having a way to easily and quickly hop across the water of Puget Sound. Also didn’t require boat parking (marina mooring) and, most importantly, was clean given my background in climate tech.”

A Tesla model 3 owner, and high in the waiting list for Cybertruck reservations, Diamond got excited when he saw a Tweet by Tesla founder Elon Musk that indicated the vehicle could serve as a boat for short period of time but would be limited by the speed at which wheel rotation could propel the vehicle and it would never go fast enough to be compelling.

Diamond’s concept solution is an easy-to-assemble kit that turns the Cybertruck into a catamaran equipped with 1 to 5 50kW outboard motors, which they aim to have powered by the Cybertruck’s battery pack.

While no working prototype exists – due to a lack of the actual Cybertruck, the website indicates a top speed of over 25 mph (22+ knots) and a range of 50 to 115 miles depending on cruising speed –based on a Cybertruck with a range of over 500 miles on land. Depending on the number of motors, the price range is set at US$22,900 to US$32,900.

There is also a Hydrofoil version in the works for higher speeds of over 40 mph (35 knots) with a range of priced between US$35,400 to US$442,900.

Both models generate the equivalent of 335 horsepower, according to the
