CEO and founder Elon Musk had reportedly had Tesla working on the project since 2017 when he discovered the plans for Indian designer Dhruv Prasad’s brainchild. Musk reportedly was thinking of forming a stand-alone company for the vessel’s development – but the project is being launched, at least for now, under the Tesla brand.
