Seeing a boat in New Zealand with triple outboards is not a common sight. However, in the USA, it’s more a matter of why only three?
Earlier this year, the US high-performance boat builder MTI debuted its first V 50 centre console, and reports are that they have upwards of 20 on order. What is interesting is that all of them are being powered by five Mercury Racing 450R outboard engines.
This massive centre console demands a seven-figure price tag, and demand is strong. Â
While it’s a boat destined for high-speed offshore day cruising, there is any overnight option if you want it. The boat features an entire cabin with accommodation, separate head/shower and compact galley, all inside the console.
The cockpit interior space is immense. Two rows of three across bolster seats with a large amount of room behind. The aft area has a large bench or even an optional L-shaped seat. Several options are available to configure the cockpit for your needs. Going forward, there’s a sizeable contoured sun lounge with storage below and forward bow seating with comfortable aft-facing lounges.
With quint 450R power, the V 50 reportedly tops out at 87 mph. Dimensions are 50ft, with a beam of 12ft and a displacement of around 18000lbs.Â
