A fire at TruDesign Plastics’ production facility in Auckland led to the partial collapse of the building that destroyed their offices.
The owners of the Auckland based marine equipment manufacturer TruDesign Plastics say it will most likely be six to eight months before the business can resume production following a substantial fire at its Auckland manufacturing facility recently.

Managing director Robert Michael was quoted in local media saying that the worst of the damage appears to have been confined to the front of the building, which housed offices rather than production tooling. He added that the business intends to find alternative ways to continue manufacturing its line of marine valves and components while the facility is rebuilt. About 50 employees work at the site.
The fire is reported to have caused the entire second floor of the building to cave in. However, the business owners said they would be finding other ways to get parts made in the meantime. The cause is still being investigated, but it looked like an electrical fire.
Established in 1974, TruDesign Plastics produces a wide range of injection moulded engineering plastics for the marine industry, distributed in 36 countries.
