TWO FATCAT 4500 BOATS FOR THE AUCKLAND HARBOURMASTER

by admin

Impressed by the stability, space, ride, toughness and versatility of the design during sea trials, the Harbourmaster team are delighted with their new vessels.

Their first task was helping with crowd control at the Auckland ITM NZ Sail Grand Prix (SailGP). Following that, they will be used in a range of tasks, including mooring maintenance, wharf inspection, event support and the occasional patrol.

The Harbourmaster had specific requirements for their vessels and also wanted to future-proof the boat for the diverse deployment requirements in the future. These included customisation of the seating and centre console, custom folding T-Top protection, Ultralon high grip flooring, Lifting Lugs as well as a large padded side bumper to enable coming alongside any vessel.

Powered by Suzuki 60hp 4 stroke engines, the vessels are incredibly reliable & economical to run. They have a service speed of 20 knots and a top speed of 27 knots. The vessels are fitted with quality Lowrance & Simrad electronics to match the rest of the Harbourmaster fleet. Both vessels were designed, constructed and fitted out in FatCat’s Auckland factory.

Having previously built multiple FatCat 4500’s to survey including one for the Northland Harbourmaster last year, the FatCat team are well versed in the demands of government & industry. Managing Director Blair McLay remarks “We are delighted that out of all the boats and designs that could be chosen, our team and the quality of what we produce has gained the confidence and trust of the most experienced professionals in the industry.”
