YAMAHA MARINE NZ ANNOUNCES NEW HELM MASTER SYSTEM NOW AVAILABLE FOR KIWI BOATIES

by admin

Yamaha Marine NZ has announced that the new Helm Master® EX Wireless Control System, a groundbreaking advancement designed to deliver unmatched freedom, precision, and confidence at the helm, is now available for Kiwi boaties.

Building on the proven performance of Yamaha’s Helm Master EX boat control platform, the new wireless system allows captains to manoeuvre their boats from virtually anywhere onboard with the push of a button. The Helm Master EX Wireless Control System introduces a compact, ergonomic wireless control fob that puts full low-speed manoeuvrability directly in the operator’s hand.

With intuitive joystick functionality, users can effortlessly dock, reposition, or hold their vessel steady, whether they’re at the helm, on the deck, or near the transom. This added mobility enhances visibility and situational awareness, making close-quarters handling easier than ever before.

Designed for seamless integration, the wireless control system works in harmony with existing Helm Master EX features such as SetPoint® position-holding, autopilot functions, and precision joystick control. Advanced security protocols and system safeguards ensure reliable operation, while automatic disengagement features provide peace of mind during use.

The handheld control system also incorporates an integrated Man Overboard (MOB) safety function. If the captain or a passenger falls overboard, the system automatically responds by either slowing the boat to idle or shutting down the engines, depending on the circumstances. Supplied with one Captain’s Tag and one Passenger Tag, the system supports up to eight MOB tags in total, allowing operators to monitor crew members — and even pets — onboard. Each tag is worn via a wristband or lanyard and is powered by a compact button-cell battery for reliable, continuous operation.

“The Helm Master EX Wireless Control System represents a significant step forward in how boaters interact with their vessels,” said Ramon Surrey, Yamaha Marine National Manager. “By giving users the ability to move freely around the boat while maintaining complete control, we’re making docking and low-speed manoeuvring more intuitive, less stressful, and more enjoyable.”

Ideal for a wide range of boating applications—from fishing and cruising to docking in tight marinas, and navigating boat ramps—the wireless system is engineered to meet the demands of modern boaters who value flexibility and confidence on the water. The system’s lightweight, wearable design ensures comfort during extended use, while its responsive controls deliver the precision Yamaha customers expect.

The Helm Master EX Wireless Control System will be showcased at the upcoming Auckland Boat Show, March 5-8, at Jellicoe Harbour. Visitors will be able to experience the Helm Master EX Wireless Control System on a variety of vessels at the show. To book your Yamaha sea trial (limited time slots available), visit:
