GCCM FACILITY EXPANDING

The multimillion-dollar expansion of Australia’s Gold Coast City Marina & Shipyard (GCCM), known as GCCM Stage 2-Titan Yard, is moving forward.

The GCCM Stage 2-Titan Yard will be located on a site of more than 20 hectares, which is over double the size of the existing GCCM yard. Titan Yard will include a full-service marina and shipyard facility located on Beattie Road. This has been designed specifically to provide services required for larger superyachts and wider beam catamarans and sailing yachts and will accommodate vessels up to 1,400GT and 18m (59ft) in beam on the working hardstand.

Due to increased demand for space in the Stage 2 facility, GCCM is looking to fast track the first stage of this development with the construction of high-profile marine showrooms, factories and workshops between 200m² and 2,000m² located at the main southern entrance to the Gold Coast Marine Precinct.

These units will also benefit from highway exposure on completion of the new Coomera Connector Road (60,000-plus cars per day and scheduled to be completed in 2023).

The expansion and growth in capacity for larger yachts at GCCM Stage 2 is an important evolution of the Gold Coast’s ever-growing marine capabilities and the increasing influx of larger vessels to the region, especially in the lead up to the 2032 Olympics to be hosted in southeast Queensland.

With foreign-flagged vessels now able to clear customs and immigration on the Gold Coast and the new 163m (535ft) Megayacht berth at Southport Yacht Club on the Broadwater, the time is right for EOIs to be submitted by interested companies.
