CIRCA UNDERTAKE MAJOR REFIT

by admin

Circa Marine is well underway with a major refit and upgrade of the South Island-based 19m charter vessel Seafinn.

The project has a challenging timeframe, but the owners have a clear vision of the desired layout and features they require in the vessel, making the discussions regarding the design concepts and scope of work easy to navigate. First up was a five day passage from Deep Cove to the Circa yard in Whangarei.

Almost from the moment Seafinn arrived, the strip out and 3D scanning began, with the design and naval architecture following closely behind. The scope of work is to upgrade the accommodation below, extend the main saloon, install a new galley, and add a new superstructure that will house the new helm and crew accommodation. The vessel will also be extended by around 3m.

The extensive structural fabrication work means a considerable amount of design, electrical, plumbing, engineering, painting and internal fitout to undertake. Some other upgrades are a new Scania DI 13 077M/700 hp engine and ZF400 gearbox replacement, a new electronics package, a new gen set, batteries and a new bow thruster. Circa Marine has all of these trades in-house under one roof.

Work is well underway, and all the team at Circa are focussed on delivering this vessel within the timeframe.
